FAITH. HONOR. BROTHERHOOD. SERVICE.

Grand Magistral Priorate of Serbia

The Grand Magistral Priorate of Serbia is part of the modern Templar Order, carrying on the Christian, chivalric, and humanitarian tradition of the Knights of the Temple.

We do not imitate the past. We strive to live its most valuable principles today — through personal responsibility, brotherhood, charity, and a readiness to put our knowledge, time, and abilities in the service of the common good.

Who we are

A tradition that obligates

The Grand Magistral Priorate of Serbia is a Christian chivalric community founded in 2012. We bring together adult Christians, men and women, of different professions, knowledge, and life experience.

We are united by shared values and the conviction that belonging to the Order is not an ornament, a privilege, or a means of personal influence. It is, above all, an obligation: work on oneself, keeping one's word, care for the brotherhood, and concrete action in the community.

In fourteen years of existence we have built our own Temple, strengthened our bonds, and created a community capable of initiating and achieving significant works.

Values of the Order

Virtues are confirmed through deeds

Our work rests on Christian faith and chivalric virtue. Members are expected not to keep faith, hope, charity, justice, wisdom, courage, and temperance only in solemn words, but to show them in family, work, relationships with others, and the obligations they take on.

Faith

The spiritual foundation of our life and work.

Honor

Consistency with one's word and responsibility for one's actions.

Brotherhood

Trust, mutual support, and equal human dignity.

Charity

Help to those in need, individuals and communities alike.

Service

Readiness to put personal abilities to use for the common good.

Our mission

From values to deeds

The mission of the Grand Magistral Priorate of Serbia is to preserve and develop Christian and chivalric values, to advance its members, and to support people and communities in need of help.

We carry out our mission through humanitarian and charitable work, spiritual and personal development, the study of the Order's history and tradition, cultural and educational activities, and cooperation with kindred organizations in Serbia and abroad.

History

Medieval inspiration, modern responsibility

The historical Order of the Knights of the Temple arose in Jerusalem in the early 12th century and was suppressed in 1312. The Grand Magistral Priorate of Serbia does not claim unbroken legal or institutional continuity with the medieval Order.

The modern organizational development of the Templar Order dates to the early 18th century and the revival of its activity in France in 1804. Over the following two centuries the Order developed through several European centers and grew into an international community of Grand Priories.

Life of the Order

A community that learns, works, and helps

The basic life of the Order takes place through Commanderies. Members take part in Assemblies, meetings, humanitarian activities, educational programs, lectures, research work, commemorations, and other projects.

Contribution need not look the same for everyone. Some help through organizational work, some through professional knowledge, some through humanitarian engagement, and some by connecting people and resources. What matters is that membership does not remain merely formal.

Membership

Joining the Order is the beginning of a path

The Order is open to adult Christians, men and women, who accept its values and are ready to respect its rules, hierarchy, confidentiality, and the obligations they take on.

The process usually begins with a conversation with a Knight willing to present the candidate and act as their sponsor. The sponsor introduces the candidate to the nature of the Order and the obligations membership carries, but cannot promise admission or guarantee the outcome of the process.

Meeting the basic requirements does not by itself create a right to admission. The decision is made following the prescribed process and an assessment of mutual trust.
