Accepted Answer

OSMTH is the abbreviation of the Latin name Ordo Supremus Militaris Templi Hierosolymitani — the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem, the modern international Templar Order. Question 2

Who are the Knights Templar in Serbia today?

Accepted Answer

The Knights Templar in Serbia today are the members of the Grand Magistral Priorate of Serbia: adult Christians, men and women, united around faith, honor, brotherhood, and charity. The Order is neither a military nor a political organization; its chivalric tradition is expressed through personal responsibility, humanitarian work, and service to the community.

Question 3

Is the modern Templar Order the same as the medieval Order?

Accepted Answer

Not in the sense of unbroken legal and institutional continuity. The historical Order of the Knights of the Temple was suppressed in 1312. The modern Order carries on its spiritual and historical inspiration, seeking to apply the values of faith, honor, brotherhood, and service to the present day.

Question 4

What is the Grand Magistral Priorate of Serbia?

Accepted Answer

The Grand Magistral Priorate of Serbia is a modern Christian chivalric community founded in 2012. It is part of the international Order Ordo Supremus Militaris Templi Hierosolymitani Magnum–Magisterium Paris.

Question 5

Is the Order a political or religious organization?

Accepted Answer

The Order is not a political party or a religious sect. Its work is based on Christian faith, but it does not replace the Church and does not constitute a separate religious community. Members' political convictions are their own private matter and must not be imposed on the Order.

Question 6

Is the Order a military or paramilitary organization?

Accepted Answer

No. The modern Templar Order is not a military or paramilitary organization. Chivalric tradition today is expressed through discipline, honor, responsibility, charity, and service to the community.

Question 7

Who can become a member?

Accepted Answer

Adult Christians, men and women, of good standing and moral integrity, who accept the values of the Order and are ready to respect its rules, hierarchy, confidentiality, and the obligations they take on.

Question 8

Does professional or social standing affect admission?

Accepted Answer

It is not, by itself, either an advantage or a guarantee. The Order brings together accomplished people, but a candidate is assessed by character, reputation, responsibility, motives, and readiness to contribute.

Question 9

How does the admission process begin?

Accepted Answer

The process usually begins with a conversation with a Knight willing to present the candidate and act as their sponsor. Conversations follow, along with submission of the required documentation and consideration by the Order's competent leadership and bodies.

Question 10

Can a sponsor guarantee admission?

Accepted Answer

No. The sponsor represents the candidate, helps them get to know the Order, and follows their development, but cannot promise admission or guarantee the outcome of the process in advance.

Question 11

Does meeting the requirements mean I will certainly be admitted?

Accepted Answer

No. Meeting the basic requirements does not create a right to admission. The decision is made after the prescribed process and an assessment of mutual trust.

Question 12

What ranks exist in the Order?

Accepted Answer

The regular ranks are Novice, Squire, Knight or Dame, and Knight Templar or Dame Templar.

Question 13

Is advancement automatic?

Accepted Answer

It is not. Advancement depends on the requirements met, time spent in the previous rank, activity, conduct, knowledge acquired, contribution to the Order, and the evaluation of the competent leadership and bodies.

Question 14

Are rank and office the same thing?

Accepted Answer

They are not. Rank marks a member's degree of progress through the Order. An office is a specific duty and responsibility entrusted to them for a set time or in accordance with the Order's acts.

Question 15

Why are certain contents confidential?

Accepted Answer

Certain customs, rituals, and internal content are intended solely for members or the corresponding ranks. Confidentiality preserves the dignity of ritual, trust among members, and internal order. It does not serve to conceal unlawful or improper conduct.

Question 16

Does membership bring business or social privileges?

Accepted Answer

No. Membership in the Order does not guarantee business or material gain, social influence, office, title, or advancement at will. The Order's name and symbols must not be used for personal gain.

Question 17

How much time is required?

Accepted Answer

Members are expected to regularly participate in the work of their Commandery and the Grand Priory, and to conscientiously fulfill the obligations they accept. The extent of engagement depends on the individual's circumstances, but formal, permanently passive membership is not the point of belonging to the Order.

Question 18

Can I support the Order's activities without being a member?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Individuals, institutions, and organizations can support public humanitarian, cultural, and educational activities, or propose cooperation, without formally joining the Order.

Question 19

Can I apply if I don't know any members?

Accepted Answer

You can introduce yourself via the contact form. This is not a formal application or a guarantee of admission, but an opportunity to begin getting to know each other and to receive basic public information.
