Joining the Order

Belonging to the Templar Order is not the end of a search, but the beginning of a path that requires faith, patience, learning, discipline, and work.

Who can apply

A candidate should be

—Of legal age
—Of Christian faith
—Respected in the community where they live and work
—Morally and socially responsible
—Able to independently fulfill their obligations
—Ready to respect the rules, hierarchy, and confidentiality
—Interested in real work, not merely in titles, the uniform, or public status

The Order is open to men and women. Professional standing, origin, or material status are, by themselves, neither an advantage nor an obstacle. What is decisive is character, reputation, sincere intent, and the candidate's readiness to contribute.

How the process begins

From the first conversation to a decision

A person interested in joining first speaks with a Knight who is willing to present them and act as their sponsor.

The sponsor introduces the candidate to the basic values, the nature of the Order, and the obligations membership carries. They accompany the candidate through the process, but cannot promise admission, guarantee the outcome in advance, or secure a privileged position.

The admission process includes conversations, submission of the required documentation, and consideration of the candidate by the Order's competent leadership and bodies.

Meeting the basic requirements does not by itself create a right to admission. The final decision is made after the prescribed process, and the candidate is informed of the outcome through their sponsor.

Sponsorship

Sponsorship in the Order is not a formality

The sponsor represents the candidate, follows their development, and helps them understand the Order's values, rules, and tradition. They are expected to be available to their charge for advice, guidance, and fraternal support.

The candidate is obliged to be honest with their sponsor, to ask questions, and to take seriously the obligations they are considering and will later take on.

The path through the Order

Four ranks, one path

Novice
Admission to the Order begins a period of getting to know its basic values, rules, tradition, and way of work. With the support of their sponsor, the novice gradually joins the life of their commandery.

Squire
The squire deepens their knowledge, demonstrates reliability, and takes on greater responsibility in the activities of the commandery and the Order.
3
Knight / Dame
Knightly rank implies a higher degree of maturity, knowledge of the rules, and responsibility. A Knight is expected to preserve the Order's values and reputation by personal example and to help the development of younger members.
4
Knight Templar / Dame Templar
The highest regular rank confirms years of work, knowledge, trust, and dedication to the Order. It is not merely an honor, but an obligation to take on the highest degree of responsibility for preserving its values and its future development.

Advancement is not automatic

Every rank is earned

Each rank represents a new degree of knowledge, maturity, and responsibility. Advancement is not a reward for mere presence, a consequence of personal ambition, or an automatic outcome of time spent in the previous rank.

It depends on meeting the prescribed requirements, activity, conduct, knowledge acquired, contribution to the Order, and the evaluation of the competent leadership and bodies.

What is expected of members

Dedication, not perfection

—Respect the Code, bylaws, and decisions of the competent leadership
—Take part in the work of their Commandery and the Grand Priory
—Conscientiously fulfill the obligations they take on
—Take part in humanitarian and other activities
—Work on their own spiritual, moral, and personal development
—Respect their brothers and sisters regardless of rank or office
—Safeguard confidential information and internal content
—Not use the Order's name, symbols, or membership for personal gain

The Order does not demand perfection from its members. It expects sincere intent, consistency, responsibility, and a willingness to recognize and correct one's own weaknesses.

Confidentiality

Gradual acquisition of knowledge

The Templar Order has internal content, customs, rituals, and information not intended for the public.

A candidate should not know in advance what is intended solely for members or higher ranks. Certain knowledge is acquired gradually, through personal experience, learning, and advancement. It is not withheld to create privilege, but to preserve the dignity of ritual, trust, and the internal order of the Order.

Confidentiality does not serve to conceal unlawful or improper conduct.

Ask yourself a few questions

Before making a decision, ask yourself a few questions:

1.Do I accept the Christian and chivalric values on which the Order rests?
2.Am I ready to respect its rules and hierarchy?
3.Can I keep entrusted information confidential?
4.Do I want to work and contribute, or am I primarily drawn to insignia and titles?
5.Do I accept that admission and advancement are not automatic?
6.Can I regularly set aside time for the Order's activities?
7.Am I ready to put my knowledge and abilities in the service of others?
