About Us

The Grand Magistral Priorate of Serbia is a modern Christian chivalric community devoted to faith, honor, brotherhood, charity, and service to the common good.

Who we are

A community bound by values

The Grand Magistral Priorate of Serbia is part of the modern Templar Order, carrying on the Christian, chivalric, and humanitarian tradition of the historical Knights of the Temple.

Our goal is not to imitate the past, but to preserve and apply its most valuable principles in modern life: faith, honor, responsibility, brotherhood, charity, and protection of those in need of help.

Our members are accomplished and respected people of different professions, knowledge, and life experience. Yet within the Order, no one should be valued solely by professional standing or social status. What matters is character, responsibility, how one treats others, and readiness to work.

Grand Magistral Priorate of Serbia

From founding to our own Temple

The Grand Magistral Priorate of Serbia was founded in 2012 as part of the international Templar community.

In fourteen years of existence we have built our own Temple and created a stable community founded on trust, responsibility, and brotherhood. We have strengthened our bonds and developed the ability to jointly initiate and achieve charitable, spiritual, cultural, and socially useful works.

Our own Temple is not merely a gathering place for us. It is the result of shared work and an expression of the permanence of the community we are building.

Our mission

The mission of the Grand Magistral Priorate of Serbia is

  • to preserve and develop Christian and chivalric values
  • the spiritual, moral, cultural, and personal development of members
  • to develop brotherhood, solidarity, and mutual support
  • humanitarian and charitable work
  • to study the Templar Order's history and tradition
  • cultural, educational, and socially useful action
  • cooperation with kindred organizations at home and abroad
  • protecting the Order's reputation and historical heritage

Seven Virtues

The virtues that bind us

Every Knight and Knight Templar should strive to live and act in accordance with seven fundamental virtues:

Faith

Trust in God and acceptance of Christian values as the foundation of life and action.

Hope

Steadfastness in hardship and the conviction that change begins with personal responsibility and good deeds.

Charity

Readiness to help another without humiliation, self-interest, or expectation of reward.

Justice

Fair treatment of others and consistency in moral standards, regardless of position or rank.

Wisdom

The ability to connect knowledge with experience, measure, and responsibility for the consequences of decisions.

Courage

The bravery to defend truth, dignity, and the weaker, but without recklessness or self-will.

Temperance

Mastery of oneself — one's words, actions, desires, and ambitions.

Brotherhood and hierarchy

Equal dignity, different responsibility

The Grand Magistral Priorate of Serbia rests simultaneously on brotherhood and clear organization.

All members share equal human and fraternal dignity, but do not hold the same rank, office, rights, authority, or responsibilities. Hierarchy serves to preserve order, accountability, and unity. It should not be a tool of personal dominance, but a way of making clear who bears responsibility, who makes decisions, and who sees to their implementation.

Organizational life takes place through Commanderies, Bailiwicks, and Priorates, in accordance with the Code, bylaws, and decisions of the Order's competent leadership and bodies.

Ranks and offices

A path of knowledge, maturity, and responsibility

The regular ranks of members are:

  1. 1.Novice
  2. 2.Squire
  3. 3.Knight / Dame
  4. 4.Knight Templar / Dame Templar

Each rank represents a new degree of knowledge, maturity, and responsibility. Advancement is not automatic and does not depend solely on time spent in the Order. It is based on activity, conduct, knowledge acquired, contribution to the community, and the evaluation of the competent leadership and bodies.

An office is not the same as a rank. Rank marks a member's degree of progress through the Order, while an office represents a specific duty, authority, and responsibility entrusted to them.

What the Order is not

Clear boundaries of our identity

The Grand Magistral Priorate of Serbia is not a political party, a religious sect, a paramilitary organization, or a closed business association.

Membership in the Order does not guarantee business or material gain, social influence, office, title, advancement at will, or access to all information immediately upon admission.

The uniform, insignia, ranks, and offices have meaning only when work, honor, merit, and responsibility stand behind them.
